Haworth Sketching with Pat Southern Pearce

July 10-16, 2025

There are so many great places to visit and things to see in Haworth from its cobbled streets, antique stores and old-school shop fronts, you might feel as if you've wandered onto a 1940s film set in the charmingly vintage village. Visit the Victorian-style Cabinet of Curiosities, before spotting vintage steam trains at Haworth station where 'The Railway Children' was filmed.

Fuel a sugar high with a trip to Mrs Beightons Sweet Shop and And Chocolate on Haworth's hilly Main Street. Browse eclectic art and bric-à-brac at Number 71. Embrace the village's retro feel with clothes and collectibles at Oh La La Vintage.

For a true taste of warm Yorkshire hospitality, head to the friendly Fleece Inn. Order homemade pies, Whitby scampi or their seriously tasty lobster-and-crab burger. Still peckish? Settle in for a delicious Yorkshire cream tea at The Cookhouse.

If you fancy a breather from strolling the cobbles, soak up the lovely scenery at Central Park, a nine-acre Green Flag award-winning spot. Channel your inner Kate Bush with a hike on the moody, romantic moorlands surrounding Haworth (flowing red dress optional). Follow footpaths across wild and rocky terrain to the pretty Brontë Waterfall and ruined farmhouse Top Withens, said to have inspired the gothic setting for Emily Brontë's 'Wuthering Heights'.

Quaint pubs abound for a cozy beverage. Grab a real ale beside the open fire at Haworth Old Hall, one of the oldest watering holes dating back to the 17th century. For country-luxe vibes and amazing gins, head to the Georgian gastropub The Hawthorn. Or sample some home-grown Yorkshire Gin at Haworth Steam Brewing.

With plenty of micro art galleries like Hawksbys, Wuthering Arts and Werxzovart, you can immerse yourself in local culture. After shopping, gallery-hopping and exploring the scenery, recharge at charming cafes like The Coffee House, Hunters of Haworth and Cobbles and Clay.

For an atmospheric evening, take a Haunted Haworth ghost tour through the village's supernatural lore. You can't leave without visiting the Brontë Parsonage Museum - the imposing former home where Charlotte, Emily and Anne penned their famous novels. Discover their remarkable literary contributions through insightful exhibits.

Travel back to a bygone era in timelessly appealing Haworth, where every step immerses you deeper into its beguiling vintage ambiance.

Our tour begins with a welcome dinner together on the evening at 6 pm July 10 in 2024.
The tour finishes the morning of July 16 (no workshop this day) when you are free to check out of your hotel and depart.

Pat Southern-Pearce: Artist, Instructor, and Traveling Sketcher

Pat Southern-Pearce is an accomplished artist, instructor, and world traveler whose creative journey was greatly shaped by her 5 years of training as a painter at Art School in the UK. An energetic tutor from the Welsh valleys instilled in Pat and her classmates a passion for outdoor sketching in all weather conditions using oils, gouache, and an embrace of creative freedom. Critiques prepared them for experiences like today's Urban Sketchers meet-ups. This strong artistic foundation has led to an impressive career.

Pat's sketching style captures the essence and atmosphere of places rather than just lines on paper. She works intuitively across the page, building up organic, balanced compositions that evoke the sense of temperature, energy, brilliant colors, and quietude. After years on white paper, the discovery of toned sketchbooks like Strathmore's greys and Seawhite's kraft tones was revelatory, leading her to explore vivid color papers, prepared backgrounds, and digital mediums. Pat finds inspiration in architectural details, natural scenery, colors, and textures.

Pat Southern-Pearce

Pat's artistic achievements span exhibitions worldwide, published illustrations and books like her upcoming "AN URBAN SKETCHING JOURNEY", sponsored workshops, residencies, and instructing. With a passion for sketching and documenting the world's vibrancy, she continues living her creative dream through extensive travels, connecting with fellow artists, and endlessly exploring with her sketchbooks.

From 2013-2016, Pat had a 3-year residency funded by Arts Council UK across 3 linked schools. Since 2016, she has been an instructor at major Urban Sketchers symposiums in cities like Manchester, Chicago, Amsterdam, and Leeds.
