GARY PECK

ARTIST GARY PECK

I was introduced to the art of metalsmithing at the York Academy of Arts in York, Pa. After graduating in 1971 with a major in graphic design I lived in Reading, Pa. and enrolled at the Wyoming Institute of Fine Arts and took silversmithing classes for two semesters. I worked for a commercial interior design firm for 15 years always with silversmithing and metal work as a hobby.

Spending almost 30 years being employed in a bonsai nursery and studying the art of bonsai gave me a unique opportunity to further develop my eye for detail which translated into a greater appreciation for detail in jewelry design. Now retired, my long time hobby has become more of a focus for me.

As the jewelry making process evolved, I became intrigued with the effect of heat and flame on the metals I use. That technique is usually reflected in the jewelry I create. Ever evolving, I am currently working with sterling silver and copper and their alloys.
