JEWELRY ARTIST DIANE CROWLEY

Diane Crowley.jpg

Diane Crowley, a Northern Neck resident and Virginia native, comes to us from a background in graphic arts, advertising copywriting, and ten years as a furniture and home decorative painter. A lengthy recuperation from a broken leg left her with an abundance of unoccupied time, and led to an infatuation with wire working and basic jewelry-making techniques.

Gemstones, beads and found objects became a part of her work over time and eventually continued into basic silversmithing skills, as well as a certification to teach PMC (precious metal clay).

The desire to introduce color and unusual designs into her work then led her to several years of intensive polymer clay experimentation and many seminars with leading PC artists. Her life-long love of horses and riding were the inspiration for her learning to braid and knot, making various pieces of tack for her horses. Those skills took her full-circle and led her to develop jewelry pieces incorporating leather, beads, polymer clay and vintage finds of various mediums
